The Consone Quartet were formed in 2012 at the Royal College of Music and had soon collected an impressive range of awards and prizes, notably The Royal Overseas League Ensemble prize  in 2016.  Since then a busy international schedule has taken them all over the world.

Their principal aim is to explore the early classical and romantic repertoire using period instruments. To this end they have commissioned a set of period bows and use gut strings. Research into early editions of the music and parts marked by contemporary players give an insight into early performance practice, which they are now able to bring to their interpretations.

The Consone Quartet are the first period instrument quartet to have been selected for the BBC New Generation Artists scheme.
