Tom Poster needs no introduction to Bollington. He first came in 2015 with Laura van der Heijden (cello) fresh from her triumph as BBC Young Musician. He gave a memorable piano recital in November 2016 which included the four Chopin Ballades. He and his wife, the violinist Elena Urioste, are co-directors of the Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective, a flexible ensemble of musicians committed to “educate and inspire audiences of all generations to the joy of chamber music”.

He is joined this season by the Scottish Maxwell Quartet, four close friends who have known each other from student days and share a commitment to the promotion of the string quartet repertoire and of folk music, which they see as being at the root of classical music. Their performances aim to bring together the two in a free and unique way, communicating a meaningful musical experience, which will surely be apparent in their programme tonight.
